Commanders’ Conference At Headquarters Maintenance Command, IAF, Inaugurated



The two days Annual Commanders’ Conference got underway at Headquarters Maintenance Command, Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur today. Aim of the Conference is to review the progress of ongoing activities and projects at units under Maintenance Command and evolve strategies and maintenance plans to tackle maintenance issues arising out of induction of new technology and weapon systems in Indian Air Force.

The Conference was inaugurated on 12 March 2012 by Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne. Addressing commanders, the Chief of the Air Staff stated that the Indian Air Force has taken confident strides on the path of transforming itself in to a multi-spectrum strategic force capable of addressing India’s future security concerns. He further said that while inducting new hardware, we need to constantly remind ourselves that the real enablers and drivers of our transformation process “our people” always remain our first priority. He asked the Commanders to be aware of the changing security environment in the region and remain prepared to safeguard our assets against any threats. He urged the air warriors to imbibe core values of “Mission, Integrity and Excellence” in their everyday work. The Air Chief lauded the achievements of Maintenance Command in keeping the operational preparedness at high level. He presented trophies for outstanding performance to the Base Repair Depots and Equipment Depot. Performance reviews of respective Branches at Command Headquarters were carried out by Senior Maintenance Staff Officer, Air Officer-in-Charge Engineering Services and Senior Air & Admin Staff Officer.

Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne PVSM AVSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff and Mrs Kiran Browne, President Air Force Wives Welfare Association arrived on 12 March 2012 at Nagpur. They were received at the airport by Air Marshal J Chandra AVSM VSM Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command and Mrs Sharmila Chandra, President Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional), along with the Principle Staff Officers. On arrival, a ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented to the Chief of the Air Staff at Headquarters Maintenance Command, Seminary Hill.

Mrs Kiran Browne, President Air Force Wives Welfare Association reviewed the progress of welfare schemes and ventures under progress at Stations under Maintenance Command. She appreciated the steps taken by the Association at Regional and local levels for the welfare of their members and advised all to enable the Sanginis to acquire new skills to keep pace with changing environment.
