Russia's Severnoye Design Bureau Says No Design Fault In Talwar-Class, Blames COs For Naval Ship Accidents, Human Error

At the Rosoboronexport pavilion, at the ongoing Defexpo-2014, met the Deputy of Chief designer of Severnoye Design Bureau- SDB, Petr K Zavyalov, he said that the current accidents in the Indian Navy have nothing to do with the design of the ships.SDB is the designer of the Talwar-class frigates, two of which have recently been embroiled in controversy involving accidents-INS Talwar and INS Tarkash. Zavyalov said that it was human error which was responsible and the Commanding Officers should be taken to task. India and Russia are in talks for more frigates, but nothing has materialised.

Interestingly , the officer tipped to be the next Chief of Naval Staff, after Admiral DK Joshi retires, Vice Admiral Satish Soni-presently commanding the Kochi-based Southern Naval Command, was the commissioning Captain of INS Talwar, when she was commissioned in Russia.
