Indonesian Naval Ships Visit Kochi


Indonesian Naval Ships KRI John Lie (358) & KRI Usman Harun (359), both Bung Tomo Class Multi-Role Light frigate are on a goodwill visit to Kochi from 14 to 16 Sep 14. KRI John Lie is commanded by Captain Antonius Widyoutomo while Captain Didong Rio Duta Purwo K, S.T. M.A.P. is commanding KRI Usman Harun. Numerous professional and social interactions were scheduled between Southern Naval Command and the visiting ships during the visit. On 15 Sep 14, the Commanding Officers of the visiting Indonesian Naval ships called on Vice Admiral SPS Cheema PVSM AVSM NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command. Other interaction included reciproctory visits by specialist officers and men from both the Navies with Indian Navy personnel visiting the Indonesian Naval ships and Indonesian personnel visiting the Indian Navy training facilities at Southern Naval Command.

On 02nd Sep 14, KRI Bung Tomo, the first from the same class had also visited Kochi. The Bung Tomo Class ships are newly inducted ships of Indonesian Navy and are equipped to combat aerial, surface and sub surface threat. The ships had last visited Salalah in Oman  before arriving Kochi. The foreign naval ships are planned to depart from Kochi on morning of 16 Sep 14 for Jakarta.
