India Sends Indian Coast Guard Dornier To Maldives For Search & Rescue

On request from Republic of Maldives, the Government of India has once again extended SAR assistance to Maldivian Coast Guard by deploying an Indian Coast Guard Dornier aircraft for assisting in the search of personnel who went missing when their boat 'Coral Craft' capsized on the midnight of 11 Feb 15, approximately 30 nautical miles West of Baa Atoll. At the time of mishap the boat 

had five crew members of which two were located by Maldivian Coast Guard vessel 'Huravee'. The Indian Coast Guard Dornier is coordinating with Maldivian Coast Guard in locating the remaining missing crew members. Indian Coast Guard has been closely associated with Maldivian Coast Guard in the past, wherein the service has been providing training and resources to Maldivian Coast Guard in the field of Search & Rescue, Pollution response and Maritime Law enforcement.
