As Received From a 19 Madras Officer :

"My unit 1 jco and 9 OR got run over by a massive avalanche in siachen. The jco was the ghatak jco. The nco had just passed his jco cadre. All my coy guys. Despite the pm, Rm and others declaring all dead...the Commanding Officer refused to leave the location till he found his boys. He set up camp at the avalanche site and would not budge even in the face of snow storms and wailing blizzards...the efforts of the Search And Rescue team has paid off...all nine martyrs now found....and L Nk Hanumanthappa is still alive...though his liver and kidneys are failing due to acute dehydration....but the WILL never left him....he knew his brethren would dig up heaven and earth for him only if he held on....cheers to the indomitable infantry spirit...way to go 19 MADRAS....PROUD TO BE FROM THE PALTAN WITH SUCH ETHOS AND SPIRIT.."
